Martine is a fantastic yoga teacher!! So happy she is back in Port now. She is warm and caring, and caters for all abilities in one class, with detailed clear instructions. I was introduced to Martine through mutual sporting friends, one a Masseuse and they spoke highly of their personal benefits of Power Yoga.

I attend class twice a week and I enjoy it immensely as I have scoliosis on my spine and the only comfort for my condition is Martine’s yoga class. I have woken with severe migraines and neck pain for the last 10 years and no form of chiro will fix it. I used to take up to 8 Nurofen per day every day and now that I do Yoga I have no pain whatsoever. It has changed my life and would not know what to do if I had to stop attending class. Spirit Yoga is the best in Port Macquarie and I will not attend any other yoga class. I run my own business and it’s very stressful so Yoga gets me away from the stress and helps me throughout my week and day, it’s something I look forward to every week.

Before I started doing yoga I was tired all the time and got a sore back regularly. Since doing yoga I have had more energy, but have become calmer in general.
Spirit Yoga has really helped with my final year of high school (HSC) as it has kept me focused and calm. If I take even a few weeks off yoga I can really feel the difference when I come back for the first lesson: I feel better about my life, I am less stressed and my insomnia is minimised. Martine’s instructions are clear and concise and make a lot of sense. The structure of the class is great as she finds the best balance between fun and serious. You never do the same class twice; there is always a different class with a different and relevant theme. I recommend Spirit Yoga to all my friends and have brought several of my friends to the class, who now regularly attend.

This book was like opening up a window that I didn't realize was there!
Being in the middle of Texas, I think my favorite one was the Cooling Breath but I really loved discovering new styles.

Any yoga that I have practiced over a long period has had truly relaxing effects. This has mostly included some form of breath control.
I have always been completely unable to do this is due to asthma and I think this book may have too many hard exercises for those with breathing problems.
There are a couple that can be done when there are no difficulties in breathing and the relaxation poses I am sure will be beneficial. It is always helpful to have quiet and slow time, this can only be healthy.
There are some health benefits cited and these relate to physical and spiritual beliefs. I am not sure and maybe this is part of the clash between western and eastern medicine. I do know that those yogis that are steeped in the practice are capable of extraordinary feats and do appear to have longevity coupled with good health.
This is an interesting book with some practices clearly explained and shown in photographs and it clearly states which are easier poses and should be possible to try out without distress or medical worries.
I think I prefer to do this sort of practice at a class with a trained instructor. For those without breathing problems this may be the ideal booklet to use at home.

I had 2 back surgeries and just before the 2nd one I came across this book as a daily deal for free. Figured why not. I knew many of the stretches but the new ones did help me after surgery. I think if you do your research and talk to your MD/physical therapist, it may help you. I am not saying this will help everyone, but for me it really did.

This book has interesting information on the Chinese Medicine Theory and meridian lines which helps to explain why the poses were used.
The fact that every pose has a photo and instructions is really beneficial and helps you align your body correctly in each pose.
The book has video clips linked throughout, so you can actually practice some sequences along with the author, which I would recommend!
